Following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, Florida’s Clerks rallied together to raise relief funds for the affected staff at the Office of the Judiciary in the Bahamas during their time of need.
Together, Florida’s Clerks have raised $2,074 for the Bahamas Judiciary. In coordination with Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC), Ms. Camille Darville-Gomez, the Registrar of the Supreme Court of the Bahamas, was presented with a check during the FCCC Winter Conference on February 26, 2020.
All raised funds will go toward helping the Bahamas Judiciary staff with personal costs as they deem appropriate. As the recovery and rebuilding process continues, Clerks recognize the need for continued support and resources. Through collaboration, support and determination, Florida’s Clerks continue to stand by their colleagues in the Bahamas.
“I am proud to stand with my fellow Clerks and Comptrollers in supporting the Registrars,” said Joseph E. Smith, Saint Lucie Clerk of the Circuit Court. “While the support and help needed in the Bahamas is far greater than what we have done here today, we are heartened to play a small role in helping our colleagues in the Bahamas get back on their feet.”
